Hurricane Harvey - Houston • Day 5

Houston has cities within itself and even some neighborhoods that rival the population of ALL of Lufkin. Imagine every last person you know packing up and getting on the road at the same time, including Diboll, Nacogdoches, Hudson, every city and town around you that equals the square mile radius of Houston. Your grandmas, cousins, teachers, store cashiers, everyone.

Now pile all of those cars on the road at one time, not including gas issues, and tell me how it would go when the storm hits then. With this amount of people, there is no "orderly evacuations"; people will leave whether they needed to or not. People would be in the their cars and not safely in homes. Despite news, most people here were rescued or moved, the others that were fatal injuries were people trapped in cars. Multi-millions of people here and ONLY TEN casualties give or take the count today. My grandmother took over 24hrs to make a 2 hour trip when they evacuated last hurricane. She is safe and sound and dry at home. Houston is so stubborn people would ignore warnings anyway (the same ones doing it now and we know the rain is moving north).

If you weren't here getting the information that we were, then don't speak. And stop asking stupid questions. If it's not about helping or safety precautions it shouldn't even matter right now. They actually had help here on the ground BEFORE we even got the worst of the storm. Just be happy you survived the "worst flood in US HISTORY" and tell your kids about it and be quiet for now.

9:36pm

update for the ?s: 💔 still not safe enough to go out or even take photographs due to winds. Still raining. Won't stop until at least Thursday; levys will overflow by tomorrow. Controlled Bayou releases will probably end by tomorrow as well, as the water levels exceed the maximum. Still evacuating neighborhoods downstream from rivers and bayous. Brazos River is at 50ft and heading to 59ft tomorrow. Levies are built for 100yr floods and this is an 800yr flood, going on 1,000yr by the time it's over. Will still take 5 days to drain the water after the rain stops.  Fort Bend County is taking the worst. Lots and lots of citizen rescues and cooperation. Schools opening up as shelters. Everyone is (possibly fake) mad Joel Osteen didn't open his church for shelter.

Tornado watches have started again. Thankfully some little pockets of town still haven't had much activity at all and have no damage this entire time. Weather alerts have gone from every 1-2 mins to every 5-10 minutes.

Hurricane Harvey - Houston • Day 4 Monday Aug 28, 2017

Thank God no family has been threatened by the water or the tornadoes that touched down. Gotta wait this whole thing out then get back to work, and find wherever I can volunteer to help (which will be be anywhere in the entire city). They named it the worst flood in US History by the National Weather Station.

Both myself and Teryn live immediately near bayous and Momo Joyce and Mimi are literally on the bay, and we are all fine, to my knowledge no one has even lost power or vehicles.  🙌

Hurricane Harvey - Sunday Aug 27, 2017 - Can we stay ahead of it? Or are we already too far behind?

Say some prayers that these levy plans work 🙏🏽 Supposed to rain off and on until Friday. It's only Sunday night. City areas on curfew until 6am.

AREAL FLOODING: It focuses on specific counties, communities, streams, or areas. Flash Flood Warnings are issued for flooding usually occurring within 6 hours of heavy rain. An Areal Flood Warning is issued for flooding that occurs more gradually, normally from prolonged and persistent moderate to heavy rainfall.

Hurricane Harvey - What now Republicans?

Lots of Republicans in #Texas are affected by this as well. Now Trump will try to address climate change after this is over like he cared all along. I know it.

Well God had to find some kind of way to get his attention and it happened. The Great Flood again.

Hurricane Harvey - Houston • Sunday Aug 27, 2017

What's sad is that the streets were mostly clear Thursday and Friday, but people getting impatient started to venture out and got stuck right when the worst hit yesterday. Went from 1 casualty to over 1,000 rescues and counting over night. This is literally just night 1 of several more. Everyone encourage each other to stay inside. Whatever you feel you need, you can do without for a couple of days or ask a neighbor for spares.

Hurricane Harvey - Houston • Sunday Aug 27 2017

Teryn's side has it worse than mine. But we are all prepped and dry. No safety threats so far. I got good angels on my team, we will be good.

I'm so happy I don't have to work all week and there's nothing no one can say about it. Bad scale to weigh but I've been extremely tired and this break is right on time. I don't see how people living elsewhere do this multiple times a year. However I'm sure it's not a freaking whole city sitting like a swimming pool and we're the ants afterwards.

Adaora 🎶

I give it my heart. I'm running out of days I'm giving, I'm giving my all. But he gotta give it man, he gotta give a lil more....I'll never let a man come in that deep in my heart. 💔
